Marketplace MVP Development

Two sides. One platform.
Built to actually transact.

A marketplace is two products joined by a payment: a supply side, a demand side, and the trust to make strangers transact. We build that, with split payments and the cold-start problem designed for, fixed price, in eight weeks.

What makes it a marketplace

The problems a directory
never has to solve.

The cold-start problem, designed for

An empty marketplace is useless to everyone. We build the MVP so one side is seedable, manually if needed, and the platform delivers value before the network effect exists. This shapes what gets built first.

Split payments with Stripe Connect

Money flows from buyer to platform to seller, with the platform fee taken automatically, payouts handled, and refunds and seller onboarding built in. This is the single biggest technical gap between a marketplace and an ordinary app.

Matching and discovery

The mechanism that connects the right demand to the right supply: search, filters, categories, or active matching. The core of why both sides come back, built properly rather than as a flat list.

Trust and safety

Reviews, ratings, verification, and an admin layer to moderate and resolve disputes. Strangers only transact when they trust the platform, so even the MVP needs a working version of it.

Two-sided ownership and data

Separate flows, dashboards, and permissions for each side, on a PostgreSQL backend deployed on Vercel. Production-grade, scalable past the MVP, and entirely yours with no lock-in.

Marketplaces we build

Platforms where
supply meets demand.

Service marketplaces

Connecting providers with clients, bookings, quotes, and payment held until a job is done.

Rental and access platforms

Listing, availability, time-based booking, deposits, and split payouts to owners.

Product marketplaces

Multi-seller storefronts with seller onboarding, listings, orders, and automated payouts.

Talent and gig platforms

Two-sided profiles, matching, and milestone or escrow-style payments between strangers.

Niche vertical marketplaces

A focused community where a generic platform does not fit, built around the specific transaction that matters.

Investment

Two tiers.
Fixed before we start.

Marketplace MVP Build

16,000 GBP

A seeded, focused marketplace: one side built complete, core listings, discovery, and a first transaction flow. For proving demand before full two-sided scale. 8-week delivery, code fully yours.

Extensive Marketplace MVP

30,000 GBP

Full two-sided platform with Stripe Connect split payments, matching, trust and review layers, and an admin panel to run it. 8 to 10 weeks.

Common questions

Before you get in touch.

What is a marketplace MVP?

The first working version of a two-sided platform: enough supply, demand, and transaction to prove both sides show up and the model works. It is two products in one, not a single app with a directory bolted on.

Which side do you build first?

Usually the harder side to acquire, the supply, gets the more complete tooling first, because demand is wasted without it. We design the MVP to seed one side manually if needed, so it is useful before the network effect exists. Decided in scoping.

How are payments handled?

Stripe Connect splits each payment between platform and seller, handles payouts, and takes the platform fee automatically. Escrow-style holding, refunds, and seller onboarding are part of it. It is the biggest technical difference from an ordinary app.

How much does a marketplace MVP cost?

From 16,000 GBP for a seeded, focused build. A full two-sided marketplace with split payments, matching, and admin sits at 30,000 GBP. Both fixed price, both eight weeks, both fully owned by you.

How do you handle trust and safety?

Reviews, ratings, verification, and an admin layer for moderation and disputes. Trust is what makes strangers transact, so even the MVP needs a basic version rather than leaving it for later.

What stack do you use?

Next.js, React, and TypeScript, PostgreSQL behind it, deployed on Vercel, Stripe Connect for payments. A standard, scalable stack any competent team can pick up after launch.

Can it scale after the MVP?

Yes. Payments, data model, and architecture are the real thing. Most clients keep building on the same codebase as both sides grow, adding categories and matching on foundations designed to carry them.

Do I own the code?

Completely. Full repository, design, and IP handed over on delivery. No licensing, no lock-in, no ongoing fee. Take it to any team you like.
