Overview

Findaly · Maritime Platform

Findaly is a discovery platform for the maritime market, built to help buyers find vessels and services through structured search rather than scattered listings and broker directories.

The first version of the product answered the wrong question. We rebuilt it around discovery rather than inventory, which meant rethinking the data model, the search surface and the commercial logic together.

Knowing when to rebuild

The hardest call on any product is admitting the structure is wrong rather than adding features on top of it. The original build treated the platform as a listings database, which made every improvement a patch.

We rebuilt around the actual user job, which is comparison and shortlisting, not browsing.

Search as the product

In a discovery platform the search surface is not a feature, it is the interface. Filters, facets and result density were designed against real buyer criteria rather than whatever fields happened to exist in the data.

That forced the data model to improve, because search can only be as good as the structure underneath it.

Supply quality

Maritime listings degrade fast. Vessels sell, prices move, specifications turn out to be wrong. We designed the system so listing freshness is visible and stale inventory does not quietly poison the results.

Outcome

Findaly relaunched as a structured discovery platform with search, comparison and enquiry running on a data model built for the job rather than inherited from the first attempt.
